Tarik Black (LAL) – “Tarzan” | “Boom Boom”

Profile:
Power Forward/Center: 6’9, 250 lbs; 4th year, Kansas
NBA Role: athletic pivot
After beating out Jeff Adrien for Houston‘s final roster spot in 2014*, Tarik Black showed he belongs as an NBA player; viewed as a project his first few years, Black is now looking to establish himself as a legitimate board man & shot-blocker for Luke Walton’s Lakers; savage on the glass – strong, athletic – Black should key in on corralling caroms (offers a diff. dynamic to LA’s center spot; ex. Timo Mozgov isn’t a high volume rebounder at the five, Black could pull down plenty next to someone like Julius Randle); “found money” on offense (like a penny though, nothing with a silver tint) but Tarik has a few solid hook shots when he’s patient on the box, can finish off rolls & put backs; quick learner, though Black still needs a better understanding of defensive rotations and schemes to transform into a specialist
