PHI Forward: 6’9, 215 lbs; 5th year, Tennessee State

NBA Role: versatile small forward • PHI Depth Chart: Starter

Robert Covington aka ‘Bobby Buckets’ is a solid, (future) two-way player outta Tennessee State; earned a permanent spot in The Show during the 2014-15 season – broke out in Philly after being selected #1 overall in the D-League Draft; a rarity in today’s league: Covington’s a 36% 3-pt. shooter who loves working on D (plays passing lanes well, fights for positioning, gets a lot of steals) & crashing the glass; though Covington can shoot – doesn’t need any time or space to launch a three – he needs to continue developing* more counters off the dribble, finishing with his off hand & using his 6’9 frame to get inside & draw contact; one of Philly’s brightest young stars: should benefit playing alongside Ben Simmons, nice upside as a two-way star; can RoCo breakout even further under Brett Brown?

*Covington goes through stretches where his 3 just isn’t falling (for whatever reason) – adding a consistent floater, escape dribble-pull-up or turnaround J is an alternative to the long ball
