Profile:

BOS Guard: 6’4, 220 lbs; 4th year, Oklahoma State

NBA Role: athletic two-way guard

Bahston’s Mahcus Smaht: a throwback, ‘power guard’ who really gets under opponents’ skin defensively; straight up menace on D: strong, athletic & tough: adjusts to almost any offensive player and does a (more than) decent job of containing them; still discovering his niche on offense – a bit out of control going to the rack, should learn to work near the foul line and score via floaters; modest three-point shooter (gets a number of clean looks playing off Isaiah Thomas & Avery Bradley), gets a little too trigger happy if he’s starting to cook – takes a ton of contested, heat check threes…liable to catch fire on occasion; finishing at the basket and playmaking could improve if he works on better overall pacing; though built like a football player, Smart barrels out of control & flops* a bit too much; terrific defensive combo when slotted alongside AB – reminiscent of backcourts from the 80s & 90s; graduated to Star UnderDOG status in 2015-16
