Marcin Gortat

Marcin Gortat (WAS) “Polish Hammer” nike

(Tommy Gilligan/USA TODAY Sports)

WAS Center: 6’11, 240 lbs; 11th year, Poland

NBA Role: skilled offensive pivot • Hybrid

Marcin Gortat (aka the ‘Polish Hammer’) is like a rock on the inside – steady performer who rarely cracks under pressure*; Gortat does (just about) everything well, including securing boards, defending his position & being aggressive on offense; good scorer – hitting open Js, to about 18 feet, is a cinch (can he expand to three-point land?), as well as finishing soft hooks using either hand (actually, Gortat is probably better using his left – he lofts it after a couple fakes & it’s usually cash); good for about 13 & 9 every night – reliable DFS play for fans, reliable RF** play for coach Scott Brooks; Gortat could lose minutes in 2017-18 but keeping him fresh for another (potential) deep playoff run could benefit the Wiz

*terrible analogy, I know

**real life (or really lame, I know)

Signature Shot: turnaround righty hook
