Calling Klay Thompson a lights-out shooter & strong defender doesn’t quite do him justice – if you’re building a modern-day shooting guard, it’s Thompson you want to emulate; believe it or not, Klay gets hot faster than anyone in the NBA – literally impossible to stop once a few shots fall; definition of a pure shooter: can make shots, from anywhere on the floor (crazy heat checks)*, despite varying degrees of difficulty – loves coming hard off pin downs, very good post player & patient finisher; Klay sets his own standard as a ‘rhythm’ player – avoids falling into extended, ice-cold stretches; a little arrogant, which is good? – never changes expression, which is good!; needs to avoid bonehead mistakes – should have the most free reign of his career by default – could set legendary shooting percentages (50% from downtown, perhaps?); had the entire NBA buzzing after exploding for an NBA-record 37 3rd-quarter points v. Sacramento back in January 2015; though he can get a bit overshadowed by his fellow Splash Bro., Thompson is much more of a Top DOG than sidekick (won’t sacrifice his game for anyone) – somehow, is Klay now the most ‘overlooked’** Warrior?
*because a Splash Bros. Heat Check! is the best Heat Check there is!
**such a great “problem” for GS – there’s cases where you’d prefer taking your chances w/ Steph over giving Klay Thompson daylight – add in Durant‘s all-around greatness & Green‘s passing ability/screen setting = wide open looks for Klay
