Iman Shumpert (CLE) – “Shump”

Profile:
Shooting Guard: 6’5, 220 lbs; 7th year, Georgia Tech
NBA Role: athletic swingman/perimeter defender • UnderDOG
An impeccable flat-top, inevitable trash talk, and pretty decent defense are all registered trademarks of Cavs’ swingman Iman Shumpert; drafted 17th overall by the Knicks in 2011, Shump impressed (early on) as a remarkably tough guard who adds a nice defensive punch – great hands, moves well from side to side; with less responsibility in Cleveland, Shump now makes sure to focus on the little things – fighting for rebounds, staying w/ shooters around off-ball screens – that align perfectly w/ the Cavs’ championship formula; wouldn’t exactly call Shump a “two-way” player, though he’s an OK shooter – great form (almost exclusively shoots after the hop) even if accuracy is not always on point; nice athlete but Shump struggles to finish at the basket, especially if a defender is nearby; excels in dirty work – Shump’s a consistent J away from reaching Star UnderDOG status
Signature Shot: 3-pointer off the hop
