POW POW POW! – Dwight Powell’s shown some promise after landing in Dallas as a throw-in during the (failed) Rajon Rondo (CHI) experiment in 2015; a budding face up threat with touch close to downtown, Powell has a shot to vault to the top of Dallas’s second unit bigs – guys w/ Powell’s athleticism* don’t have that jumper; you figure three-point range is coming soon – Powell’s release is quick & he’s agile enough to come to a stop before shooting off screens; changes the flow of games with his activity on both ends (moves well without the ball) – flies in for put backs, annoying rebounder & defender; very good rapport w/ JJ Barea** – the pair frequently connect on passes over the top, off a high ball screen; still learning how to defend his position, cut down on fouling; Dallas’s undisputed X-Factor
