Is Dewayne Dedmon underrated? For a relatively inexpensive shot-blocker and defender, he’s an excellent option for Coach Pop; has great physical tools – an athletic 7-footer, Dedmon is always up around the rim; offense isn’t much to write home about but it’s not a damning reality since Dedmon doesn’t need to score to make an impact, doesn’t play huge minutes; good anticipation on blocks, can slip behind guys for lob flushes; developing into a more disciplined rim protector – still prone to bite at the slightest eyebrow fake, fouls a lot; he and Coach Pop are a match made in heaven – Pop hasn’t coached many athletic, yet untapped, 7-footers like DD – Dedmon’s improving leaps and bounds; San Antonio’s undisputed X-Factor in 2017-18?
