Derrick Favors (UTA) – “Favs”

Profile:
Power Forward/Center: 6’10, 265 lbs; 8th year, Georgia Tech
NBA Role: versatile, two-way forward • Star UnderDOG
If there’s one player who doesn’t receive enough national attention, it’s Utah’s Derrick Favors; when fully healthy, D-Favs ranks high when discussing the NBA’s top two-way bigs; not many other athletes you’d rather have as a roll finisher – unadulterated, power dribble-dunker* w/ a vengeance against the rim; strong as an ox, has a soft touch & it’s hard to move him once he’s gotten to his spot (can pivot out or spin around his man); reliable for UTA on offense – money inside the arc w/ midrange Js, solid flash cutter who’s ready to deliver an decisive blow after catching; takes his time on the box: re-adjusts, makes his move depending on coverages; underrated rim protector; down the stretch of close games, Favs needs to adapt a more alpha mentality & demand the rock from Coach Snyder**;
*no holds barred:
**doesn’t need to make an explicit demand but should be assertive when featured in the 1st & 3rd quarters (UTA needs to create minutes where his teammates know, no matter what, Favs is getting his touches; ex. JJ Redick (LAC) is a “1st-quarter scorer”) – can Favors become a go-to 3rd quarter guy?
