Danny Green (SAS) – “Green Ranger”

Profile:
Shooting Guard: 6’6, 215 lbs; 9th year, UNC
NBA Role: 3&D • Star UnderDOG
His dancing shoes long retired, UNC’s Danny Green is an integral part of San Antonio’s well-oiled machine; popularized the role of ‘3&D guy’ during SA’s back-to-back title appearances in 2013 & 2014 – a role for three-point guys & defense guys merged (in a metaphorical sense) w/ each triple & stop carried out by the ‘Green Ranger’ – hit the most threes (27) in a Finals series (2013) while defending superstars Dwyane Wade (CHI) and LeBron James (CLE); suffers through shooting slumps during every season for some odd reason but once the playoffs hit, Green is usually up to his old tricks; lights out shooter when he’s feeling it, though prone to slumps throughout the season; opened up his offense by adding a runner a few years ago – not a natural creator but Green can put the ball down if necessary; an NBDL ‘poster boy’, Green famously used the D-League as a platform to make (and later thrive in) the league
