Well, that didn’t take long! Just two days after getting canned by Memphis, Dave Joerger has reportedly agreed to a 4 year/$16 million contract to become Sacramento‘s next head coach.

Despite an extensive search that included Mark Jackson, Vinny del Negro & Patrick Ewing, Vlade Divac moved quickly on Joerger shortly after hitting the market. During the press release, Divac had this to say about Joerger:

“He is a strong and passionate leader with a proven track record of producing results. Dave shares our focus on creating a long-term culture of winning and I look forward to a bright future ahead for the Kings with his leadership on the court.” (via ESPN)

On the basketball side, Joerger is known for deploying tough, defensive-minded players with an emphasis on pounding the rock inside. However, he’s also shown the ability to adjust to his roster and extenuating circumstances – you know, like juggling 28 different guys over the course of a season.

How he’s able to reign in DeMarcus Cousins is the real challenge. Cousins famously butted heads with George Karl for almost two years, so establishing some sort of healthy relationship should be priority number one.

In three seasons with the Grizz, Joerger went 147-99, with playoff a appearance in each campaign.
