In last night’s 118-111 overtime victory for the Knicks in Madison Square Garden, Carmelo Anthony notched 30 points which nudged him to 31st on the all-time NBA scoring list.
Anthony is obviously no slouch at putting the ball in the hoop and will undoubtedly rise well above 31st but last night was special due to passing none other than Larry “Legend” Bird. Anthony currently sits at two points above Bird’s previous record of 21,791.
“Well, first of all, it’s an honor just to be on that list, you know, and to know the great work that Larry Bird put in throughout his career,” Anthony told MSG’s Rebecca Haarlow after the game. “I’m still going, man. I’m still having fun with this game of basketball.”
Next for Anthony to pass is Gary Payton who currently sits at 21,813. With only a 22-point differential, look for Anthony to pass the Glove in his next matchup against the Clippers tomorrow in Los Angeles.
