Cleaning up last night’s action in the Association…
BUCKS 91, Heat 79
Stats Leaders:
PTS: Hassan Whiteside/Chris Bosh – 23 | REBS: Whiteside – 18 | ASTS: Khris Middleton – 7
Top DOG of the Night: Khris Middleton (22 points, 7 boards, 7 dimes)
Quick Recap: HEAT struggled to contain Khris Middleton (22 points, 7 boards, 7 assists) and couldn’t generate enough points to make a difference. Dwyane Wade suffered through a miserable, 2-point night on 1-6 shooting.
Takeaway: Milwaukee has won 3 straight and is climbing back into the playoff picture.
Timberwolves 99, PELICANS 114
Stats Leaders:
PTS: Anthony Davis – 35 | REBS: Karl-Anthony Towns – 13 | ASTS: Jrue Holiday – 9
Top DOG of the Night: Anthony Davis (35 points, 7 boards, 2 blocks)
Quick Recap: Pelicans withstand a hot start (38-25) by the Wolves, win in convincing fashion after a dominating third-quarter effort (31-15). Davis led the charge with 35 but received a solid boost from Jrue Holiday (19 points, 9 dimes) off the bench.
Takeaway: Pels refuse to tank…yet.
*Injury Note* – Eric Gordon fractured his middle finger and is expected to be out 4-6 weeks.
And despite a strong scoring effort from Towns and Andrew Wiggins (combined for 41), Minny just cannot string together consistent stops on D.
THUNDER 110, Nuggets 104
Stats Leaders:
PTS: Kevin Durant – 30 | REBS: Kenneth Faried – 15 | ASTS: Russell Westbrook – 12
Top DOG of the Night: Kevin Durant (30 points, 12 rebounds, 4 dimes)
Quick Recap: Durant’s dominance + mixed with Westbrook’s thunderous throw downs = a very solid road victory. The duo combined for 57 points.
Takeaway: Durant, Westbrook and Enes Kanter (25 pts off the bench) demonstrated how difficult they are to contain once the ball is jumping from side to side.
Denver took the L but 13 points & 9 dimes is an encouraging sign for young Emmanuel Mudiay, who is working his way back from injury.
PACERS 97, Suns 94
Stats Leaders:
PTS: Devin Booker – 32 | REBS: Tyson Chandler – 14 | ASTS: Joseph Young – 5
Top DOG of the Night: Paul George (19 points, 8 boards, 4 assists)
Quick Recap: Indiana’s young guns (Myles Turner, Joseph Young, Glenn Robinson III – combined for 36) pushed the pace and provided excellent relief for PG-13 and Monta Ellis (20 points). Young & Turner have an excellent relationship and are building some rhythm in the PnR.
Takeaway: Myles Turner already looks like the real deal.
Look for a fire sale in Phoenix, as Coach Jeff Hornacek will be instructed to give free reign to Booker (career-high 32 points) and the rest of the emerging swingmen.
